Welcome from the Conference Chair
Sensors are vital components of smart manufacturing, artificial Intelligence, Cyber–Physical System (CPS) and Internet of Things (IoT) for industry 4.0. For more advanced creations, biologists, engineers, physicists and chemists are all endeavoring to provide innovative technical sensors. This year, 2018, the well-known journal, Sensors, is going to hold the international conference in Kenting, which is located in the south of Taiwan—taking place in Asia for the first time. I3S embraces all professionals from industry, academia and government to discuss the latest developments and breakthroughs of sensor technology and related subjects. During the conference, attendees, from a range of research areas, will all gather together to share different aspects and establish new mutually beneficial collaborations across different fields.
We sincerely look forward to your participation in I3S2018.

Prof. Dr. Bahram Nabet received his BS degree with Honors from Purdue University in 1977, and MS and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington in 1985 and 1989 respectively. He joined the faculty of Drexel University in 1989 where he is presently Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and affiliated Professor of Materials Science and Engineering. Dr. Nabet's research work has led to the development of optoelectronic devices that circumvent limitations of charge transport, i.e., work faster than the travel speed of electrons. His interest in interaction of light and semiconductors in small dimensions has led to the development of nano-structures that absorb and emit light with orders of magnitude more efficiency compared to their bulk counterparts. He is co-author of three books and over 180 refereed publications, and has won 6 Best Professor teaching awards from students as well as a departmental and a university-wide teaching award. He has been a senior visiting scientist in Brazil and Italy, ASEE Summer Faculty Fellow at the Naval Research Lab in Washington DC, and has been on sabbatical leave at Telcordia Applied Research Inc. and Dexxon Group Inc. Kenting
Kenting National Park, Taiwan's first national park, is bounded by the Pacific Ocean on three sides, the Pacific ocean to the east, the Taiwan Strait to the west and Bashi Channel to the south. The Park embraces land both above and below water. Located over an area of significant tectonic activity, this part of Taiwan is home to many unique geological features, including uplifted coral beds, ocean erosion, and fault line rifts. Geography and tropical climate have together created a rich and varied natural canvas, which today helps define Kenting's special place among Taiwan's national parks. In addition to geology, natural attractions of particular interest in the park include rarely seen coastal plants, the annual autumn overflight of migratory birds from northern Asia, and beautiful living coral reefs.
For a complete overview, see Kenting National Park.
